Vajrasatwa

Vajrasattva He is also considered as one of the six Dhyani Buddhas and priest of the Dhyani Buddhas. He is not represented in stupa but indepdndent shrines are dedicated to him. He is represented in two forms:single and yab-yum. His worship is done in secrecy. Vajrasattva is represented in dhyanasana or cross- legged. He holds vajra in the right hand with palm upwards against the breast and bell (ghanta) in the left resting against the left thigh. He wears princely ornaments and has a mukuta or tiara over it. Vajrasattva is represented both singly and yab-yum. In yab-yum, Shakti carries the kartari (knife) in the right hand and skull cup in the left. The position of the fourDhyani Buddhas are always definite. In Swayambhunath stupa,Vairochana is depicted between Akshobhya of the eastern direction and Ratnasmbhava of the southern direction. Each Dhyani Buddha has got his counterpart called prajna, which occupies a place between them. The five Dhyani Buddhas represent the five cosmic elements which comprise the reality and which are considered as one and indivisible.
